How to Create a Gmail Account

Why Gmail?

1. Less Spam (or the spam is filtered in to a spam box)
2. Mobile Access: I don’t use this yet but probably will in the near future.
3. Lots of Space: unlike my Outlook account where I have to “Archive” things all the time, Gmail has SO MUCH free storage.
4. Access to everything else Google Offers: when you set up a Gmail account, you’re also setting up a Google Account, which will give you access to Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools, and other cool things from Google.
5. It’s always getting better: Gmail seems to always be doing something new. Check out their Gmail blog for all the things they have in the works.

Now the step by steps!


The first step to using Gmail is creating a Google Account. This will allow you to access and use all of Google's different services without having to log into each one of them separately. And, of course, one of the services that you can log into with a Google Account is Gmail!  Here's how to do it.

1. Open your Internet browser, click the address bar, and type in www.gmail.com. It will redirect you to a page that looks like the one below. Click Create Account to get started.
   
   
   
2. You'll want to pay attention to the box on the right-hand side here. Click in the boxes and type in the information requested on your keyboard, or select it by clicking on it.
   
   Click the yellow circle buttons () in the screenshot below if you need help with any of the options here.  When you're done entering all of your information, click Next Step.
   
   
   

    

    
3. The next screen will show you what your profile picture will look like, and ask you if you want to set up your account profile in detail.  If you want to skip this and just go right to Gmail, click No Thanks.
   
   
   
4. The new screen will confirm your account creation by showing you your new Gmail email address.  Just click Continue to Gmail to proceed.
   
   
   

After this, you will be taken to your main "Inbox" screen. Congratulations! You now have your very own Gmail account!
